It’s called Live Tile. This feature enables certain apps such as Photos automatically displays the content in slideshow in Windows start menu. Windows 8.1 users should already familiar with this, but for others this might come as a big surprise. See what happened to reddit user FalloutBoS who just upgraded to Windows 10, for example.
Honestly, it’s really not a good idea to store photos that you want to keep secret in the default Pictures folder. And that’s why, while you can disable this live tile, you should move those photos to somewhere else. Perhaps you can hide them in one of your game folders, just like what crampedlicense did.
“The real stuff is in my minecraft gamedata,” he said.
And if that isn’t enough, you can hide and lock your photo folder.
Anyway, here is how to turn off the live tile in Windows 10.
- Open the Start menu
- Right-click on the Photos tile and click Turn live tile off.
Or, you can just get rid of the Photos app by selecting Unpin from Start.
